I have spent close to USD400 over the past few months sending Flutter to film festivals. I have spent USD400 to get rejected all the fucking time. What am I supposed to do now?
I have people who are getting better opportunities than me, people getting better jobs, better reach and coverage. I made 2 films, both have gone nowhere and I am stuck in a dead-end job, the only good thing I have right now is financial security. This is not even what I want, I wanted a career in film, to be somebody, to make films, win awards and stuff, not just be content earning money doing shitty videos for shitty clients and not getting any recognition at all. I really dont know what's going on or what am I supposed to do now.

It's been a while...
Truth is, I didn't forget it. I just kept it idle because I wasn't so sure how to update this. What has it been? More than a year? How much has changed over this period. I have a job now, as in a full time job and not freelance which means finally, financial stability. Editor at Moving Bits. Do I like it here? Well its subjective, what I do like however, is the pay and the chance to mess around with different softwares and plugins.
But of course I'm not content with just editing TVCs and shit, nahhh thats just for money, my main strength is of course in directing, telling stories, making films.
So I'm in the midst of working on a short film to be shot in a few months time as well as preparing for my debut feature. So here's the plan. I am going to develop this new short film, An Incomplete Yawn and shoot it, most of it on green screen, try out some new techniques and stuff. While all this is going on, I'm going to continue to source for funding and stuff for my debut feature, Block Twenty Three, a HDB drama (well debut feature, so give and take).
I also wrote treatments for another feature, a Sci-Fi set in a post-apocalyptic World but of course, thats more of a Hollywood thing. Now its just a matter of going with the flow and seeing what opportunities come up. My escape plan out of this shithole country has to come to fruition once I get a chance to do my Masters in UCLA. Hopefully I can do that after I shoot my feature, which hopefully happens.
Also, I'm currently in talks with Ratel Productions to direct a feature for 2014, also another upstart so let's see how that goes. I hope 2014 will be a magical year for me, after all it's also my 30th :X
